Birthay Parties

I recently had the unique experience of doing two very special birthday parties in one weekend. One was for a client on a Saturday and it was her one son's first birthday and the second party was for my daughter's fifth birthday the very next day. The first party was Sesame St. themed (so cute with baby Big Bird and Elmo) and my daughter's birthday was a "Princess Party" and all the little girls came dressed in princess gowns with crowns and magic wands. Both parties were so much fun for the kids and the glow and happiness on their faces was magical for me to watch. However, the two parties were very different in the rolls that I played. At my clients party she got to feed her son as he ate the homemade meal she had prepared especially for him, she made him smile when she blew a bubble that landed on his sweet little cheeks, she sat with him in her lap when he opened his gifts and cherished every moment of his cake smashing. She never worried about restocking food or if the trash needed to be taken out or who was going to cut the cake and distribute it. She was also able to have one of the most amazing child photographer friends of mine at the party capturing all of those precious memories. (Thank you Fall Child Photography.) At my daughters party I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to make every detail perfect and I quickly realized how much I needed a clone of myself. It was one of the best learning experiences for my career because I quickly realized first hand all the reasons I will tell my future clients why hiring a planner, even for a one year olds birthday party is important because our children grow up so fast and every moment counts!
