The Power of Giving

I have been emerged in a gracious society over the last several months as I watched the holiday season pass by with the Salvation Army struggling to collect change in their little red tins with their ringing bells, yet still seeing little children drop the change from their mothers purses as they passed by to purchase holiday gifts. I had a friend sleep in a box in downtown Denver in the middle of December to raise money for the homeless in our city. I was brought to tears from pictures in Haiti as I watched the "Hope for Haiti Telethon" put on my by M.T.V. and I was nothing short of amazed to see people pull together for those trapped in that awful devastation and give what they could, even if it was a simple text worth $5. No matter how hard things may be, there is always someone who has it worse and we should forever be thankful for what we do have.

I was also struck with gratitude this week as I searched the great city of Denver to find a venue for a non profit event A Moment in Time is doing in May and had two venues offer to donate their facilities. When a school like a Montessori is providing something as valuable as educating our children and bringing them up to be compassionate, intelligent adults and doing it all on donations, it's great to see other businesses that recognize where they can help out. So, I encourage you to give where you can and pray for those less fortunate when you can't. What we put out always come back around full circle.
